I took the following notes during Salam's lecture at Milwaukee. Although I was pursuing an EECE degree, Salam's work is/was always fascinating. Salam categorized field of studies in terms of a universal length parameter. The smallest being 10^-25 meter while the highest being 10²⁶ meter, the dimension of the Universe. He described a model of the universe in terms of the shape of a snake coil, where the 'head' of the snake is 'eating' the 'tail'.
